Working With A Locksmith To Change The Locks On Your Business

About Me
Locking Up Your Home

For quite some time, I was struggling with home security. I was really nervous about robberies, especially since there were quite a few burglaries in the area. I wanted to make some changes that day that would help, so I turned to a lock, keys, and safes company. I chatted with them about how to make my home even more safe, and they had great tips for making things better. Within a few weeks, our entire place was rock solid from a security standpoint, and I was so pleased to sleep well at night without any problems. There are some times when changing the locks for your business might be necessary, and working with a commercial locksmith to make those changes will ensure the job is done right. You may only need to change the lock cores if you are already using commercial locks in the building. If you need to replace the entire lock, your locksmith can help you choose the best ones for your business.

Damaged Locks

If you have a damaged lock that is not working correctly, replacing it immediately is the only way to ensure that you can secure your building that the end of the workday. A commercial locksmith can inspect the lock for you to determine if they can repair it or if the lock will need to be replaced, and typically if you let them know you can't close the business without the repair, they can come out right away to help you.

The express service may mean paying a fee for an after-hours call or an emergency, but it can be well worth the cost if you do not have another option. If the locksmith can not get there right away, you may need to stay late to keep the building secure and make sure no one enters the building while waiting for the commercial locksmith to arrive.

Change of Management

Most businesses have several managers that have keys to the building, and if a manager leaves the company under less than perfect conditions, they may not return their keys. If this happens, having a commercial locksmith come and change the locks for you may be necessary, and while it can be costly, it is the best way to ensure that those old keys no longer work.

A business with good commercial-grade locks already installed often has an advantage because the locksmith can pull the lock cylinders, change them, and make new keys to fit the new cylinders. The cost of doing this is far cheaper than installing all-new locks in the building, and the commercial locksmith can set all the cylinders the same so that one key opens all the exterior doors.

Additional Security

Another option to consider is replacing the locks on your doors with keypads or locks with cards that need to be scanned to open the door. These electronic locks offer the ability to lock out a card, remove a code, and track everyone in and out of the building for you. If someone leaves the company, removing their access is quick and easy, and once the system is set up, the locksmith only needs to come back if the lock stops working and needs repair.
